The most beautiful city in the world

Have you ever been somewhere and just thought wow? Just been in complete awe from the moment you arrived. And after you left, kept returning to this very same place? To me, that is Cape Town. The most beautiful city in the world. I absolutely love this city. Not just in terms of everything on offer there, but also the friendliness of the people, the food, the location and so much more. In this post I’m going to talk about, what to me is, the most beautiful city in the world.

What is crazy about Cape Town, is that it seems as if it is an entire country turned into a city. I mean, you have mountains, beaches, sand dunes, forests, a beautiful city center, gardens and close by safaris. In how many other cities can you find all of this? I have never experienced even one. The diversity of Cape Town is unparalleled and that’s one of the reasons that I consider it the most beautiful city in the world. If you disagree with me, take a hike up Lions head for sunrise, and I think you will change your mind, at least just a little bit. Hiking Lions Head for sunrise is one of the most amazing things to do in Cape Town, and something that I always recommend doing. It is not the most difficult hike in the world. But standing on top, watching the sun rise, is simply awe inspiring. Another hike that is a must do is one of the routes up Table Mountain. One of my favorite memories from Cape Town is hiking the Indian Venster route in complete darkness, only guided by my headlamp. As the sun rose, I was reminded once again, why this is my favorite city in the entire world. The beauty of Cape Town is unparalleled.

However the hikes alone are not the only reason why I consider Cape Town the most beautiful city in the world. The beaches are another factor as to why Cape Town ranks so high on my list of the most beautiful cities. With incredibly white sand and beautiful turquoise water there are plenty of beaches to choose from when visiting Cape Town. The most popular of the bunch is probably Camps Bay. A beach that has often featured in movies, it is incredibly beautiful and a popular hangout spot. There are plenty of restaurants lining the promenade, and you will be able to find some delicious food here.

The Clifton beaches are also all very popular, for different reasons, and are all great places to spend your day. If you are looking for a beach with a view, head to Bloubergstrand. From here you have a view of Table Mountain, towering above the mother city. An absolutely stunning view.

Another thing about Cape Town is the food. I realize that the food itself doesn’t make Cape Town the most beautiful city in the world, but it certainly is a contributing factor to the overall experience of the city. In Cape Town, you can find all kinds of food. I honestly don’t think that I have ever had as much good food, as during my time in Cape Town. Steaks, seafood, burgers, pasta, sushi, all kinds of meat and so much more. Cape Town is honestly a heaven for food lovers.

As I visited Cape Town for the first time in 2014, a lot of people tried to convince me not to go, as it was too dangerous. It was even listed as the second most dangerous city in the world on a famous site online. I realize that at times, in certain places it can be dangerous. But the majority of things happen outside of the city center, in the townships. I have spent around 9 months in Cape Town, and never experienced any sort of crime. I heard of things happening, but I do so in every place I visit. I found the people of Cape Town to be extremely friendly, and only wanting the best for its visitors. I was even invited for dinner by a local in Boo-kaap and had some amazing traditional food. When I wanted to pay her a bit, she refused to accept the money. I was always greeted by strangers and felt entirely at home here. To me, this is also one of the reasons why Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world. Because of its people.

What city do you find as the most beautiful in the world? And why so? i would love to hear about it in the comments below.
