The best view in Jaipur

Jaipur is a city of colors. Of smells. And of people. It is a magnificent city, and a place that most tourists make sure to visit, on their trips through India. Along with Delhi and Agra, it creates what is commonly known as the golden triangle. The most popular route for short time visitors to India. Jaipur is one of my favorite cities in all of India, and it is packed with stunning sites. In this post, I will talk about the best view in Jaipur.

When visiting Jaipur, most tourists normally visit the same sites. The Jal Mahal, also known as the water temple. The pink temple, Amer fort and the pink city. And for good reason. These are all beautiful in their own way, and I especially enjoyed the water temple during sunrise. However these sites are not what this post is about. To me, the best view in Jaipur is on top of the wall, opposite Amer fort.

Located around 20 minutes outside of Jaipur city, the wall is very easy to reach with a tuk tuk. However as traffic in Jaipur can be very hectic I would suggest that you allow yourself more time to reach the wall.

To reach the wall, simply flag down a tuk tuk, and tell him to drive you to Amer fort. Every tuk tuk in the city will know it. Once there, you will notice a huge wall on top of a hill, opposite Amer fort, where most of the tuk tuk’s park. You should be able to see a small trail leading up towards the wall, and if not, your driver should be able to point you in the right direction. The hike up takes around 10-15 minutes and is easily done.

The two times I visited I didn’t meet any other tourists, only locals.

I visited during sunset and sunrise, and would definitely recommend sunrise, as that seemed to be the best time for photos. As the sun rises, it will light up the hill and create a beautiful contrast. It is a very peaceful way to spend your morning, and you will most likely enjoy the spectacle all by yourself.

From the top of the wall, you will have a beautiful view over the city, as well as Amer fort. To me it is without a doubt the best view in Jaipur. Once there, make sure you walk along the wall, to look for different views. If you travel with a friend or a partner, you can get some great photos, by placing them inside the bell tower overlooking the city. However, you have to be careful, as the drop down is huge.

There are many beautiful places in the city, but this is the best view in Jaipur to me.

Please make sure to bring down everything that you take with you. Many people leave their trash there, or throw it down the hill, and it is such a shame to see how nature is destroyed by this.
