8 places I would love to photograph in the future

I have been lucky so far in my life. Lucky to have been born into a great and lucky family. Lucky that there have always been new opportunities waiting for me at my doorstep. And lucky to have had the experiences that I have, Things I will always cherish. People and places that will always have a special place in my heart. I have seen incredible mountains, beautiful beaches, ancient temples and futuristic skyscrapers. I have seen places I never knew existed. I have stood on top of a rainbow colored mountain! I mean how cool is that? The world is a fantastic place. It’s our playground. In this post I will be talking about 8 places I would love to visit in the future.

1. Pakistan

First on the list, and a country I hope to visit in the near future is Pakistan. I have always felt drawn towards ancient times. Drawn to the way we used to live in the past. When I see photos of the streets in old villages in Pakistan, that's how I imagine life to have been like a hundred years ago, everywhere. It has a distinct beauty to it, something I can’t put my finger on. It seems to be a country of color. A place where something is always happening. Street vendors yelling on the corner of every street. The smell of delicious food filling your nostrils everywhere you go. Grand mosques and beautiful architecture. And the people. So many interesting subjects, and so much kindness it seems. I’m eager to visit the north as well. The route going along the Karakoram highway, up to the border with China. It’s a land of giants. Where mountains tower up on either side of you, for the entire way. Once I visit I’m sure I will feel like a kid in a candy shop.

2. Kyrgyzstan

Another place on the list, which I hope to visit sooner rather than later. It’s already in the plans, but let’s see how everything materializes with the current situation going on. Kyrgyzstan is a country that came to my attention a few years back, because of the hiking opportunities. With towering peaks, greens, streams cutting through the mountains, stunning lakes and possibly some wildlife, Kyrgyzstan is a landscape photographers dream. It seems to be one of those places where it’s difficult to take a bad photo. There is simply so much beautiful nature. With lakes and hikes in abundance there are so many exceptional places to explore in Kyrgyzstan, expanding over the entire country. The majority of the hikes, and what draws most tourists, is the hiking destination of Karakol. One could spend weeks or even months doing the many trails, and never get tired of the views.

3. Mongolia

Staying in Central Asia, I can’t leave Mongolia out. A country filled with history, where many keep living the traditional way of life, as their forefathers used to live. The diversity in Mongolia is absolutely incredible, spanding from the great Gobi desert, to the towering mountains in the Altai region. It’s a country where you can experience rainbow mountains as well as “flaming cliffs”. Traditional eagle hunters and beautiful waterfalls. The diversity here really is amazing. Visiting Mongolia is a dream of mine, and the possibility of coming away with so many different photos, is something I’m really excited about. Had covid not hit, I would probably be visiting in a few months, but hopefully it will be possible to go soon anyway. The entire adventure of traveling around Mongolia is something I just can’t stop thinking about. I have heard that travelers often have to go off road, in order to get to their destinations - and that it’s completely fine!

4. Bangladesh

I don’t know why I’m drawn to Bangladesh. It might be because I loved India so much, and want to get an even more real experience. Does it make sense? I want to have that real and raw travel experience. It might be the fact that I expect it to somehow be stuck in the past. And I don’t mean that in a bad way! I simply mean, as with Pakistan, that I expect life here to be like it was a hundred years ago in Denmark. And I wanna visit for the people as well. There are so many beautiful faces in Bangladesh, so many great portraits. And the people here are said to be genuinely kind, and happy for travelers to visit. There are a few places in Bangladesh I want to visit. Not any big and majestic landscapes, as with the other places. Rather small villages, the opportunity of taking a small boat down a river market for sunrise and maybe even visiting the Sundarbans. I’m not sure when it’s going to happen, but I want to make it a reality.

5. Iran

There is so much more to Iran, than what the media tells us. It often gets a bad reputation because of the way it’s portrayed in the news. But digging a little deeper it seems that Iran has some of the friendliest people in the world. Not only that, the food is said to be amazing and the mosques are absolutely beautiful. The architecture is simply incredible. Besides from the food and mosques and people, there are some absolutely stunning sites to visit around the country. You will find everything from small villages to mountains. Waterfalls, the stunning Badab e-Surt and incredible rock formations rising from the desert floor. There are lakes, and beautiful green hills. It is a place that has to be explored. There is so much more to it than the beautiful cities.

6. Patagonia

Not exactly a country, but two combined, Patagonia is always among the top places I want to experience in the world. Ever since I saw photos from here for the first time, I have known that I want to visit. What draws me to this region is the incredible mountain formations. Though it’s basically the same mountains everyone circles, there is so much beauty to be found. There are so many different angles to photography the mountains from, there is wildlife, waterfalls, huge hills and streams. It’s a place I’m so excited to visit and I imagine myself spending weeks in the same place to get the best photos possibly. This one is already in the books, and so I hope it will be possible to visit in September. It’s something I’m really excited about.

7. Bolivia

Often forgotten because of its neighboring countries, or solely visited because of the salt flats, there is so much more to Bolivia. Small rural villages, incredible mountains, volcanoes and so much more. Around La Paz, there are so many beautiful mountains that are very rarely visited by tourists. I would love to have the opportunity of renting a car for a month, and driving around photographing these mountains. Before I did my research thoroughly I didn’t know the names of any of these places, didn’t even know that they existed. I imagine it’s the same for most other tourists as well. I would love to go here and show the world the beauty of this incredible Andean country. And not just La Paz or the Salt flats. Those are a huge draw as well of course, however there is just so much more.

8. Uganda

Last name of the list. This could have been so many different places. I was thinking of Saudi Arabia, Namibia, Myanmar and Ethiopia. I might have to do a follow up it seems. However Uganda ended up being the name  to finish off the list. The biggest draw is the mountain gorillas. I have wanted to visit these for so long, and I would love the opportunity of visiting some time. However, besides from the gorillas, there are amazing safaris where it’s possible to see stunning wildlife, as well as the hike to Mount Nyiragongo volcano. A place I would love to visit. A volcano that’s regularly erupting and where it’s possible to get some incredible photos.

That finishes off the list. So many incredible places I would love to visit. Many I hope to visit over the coming year. I might have to do another list eventually, as there are so many incredible places I wanna visit!
